He joined the organization in 2013 after spending a decade setting retail strategy and managing operations for divisions of Whole Foods Market in Chicago and Denver. Though he loved the mountains, he found his way back to Ithaca, where he enjoys working for a mission-based startup social enterprise business – focused on food, agriculture and workforce development.
Dan has built a strong team that is committed to leading an empowered and integrated workforce at the Food Hub. His creativity, analytical skills and ability to lead change, along with his experience and knowledge of local food systems, serve him well in developing products and growing relationships with farmers, partners and consumers.
Dan understands how important it is to know what drives the people who are committed to farming and work so hard to grow our food. He is passionate about creating mutually beneficial partnerships with local farmers that help them increase their presence in the marketplace, while providing greater access to fresh, healthy, local food for people across New York state.
When he’s not working, you can find Dan enjoying one of the areas many gorges or local breweries and attempting to use more of his Finger Lakes Fresh CSA.
